I just built this thing an hour ago. It's technically the first stick I've ever made.


Yes, it is a shoebox. I know other people have done this before but I still really wanted to post mine. Its charm is undeniable, and it actually plays very well. It was originally planned just to test out a few things--a flimsy prototype for an eventual wooden one--but it grew on me as I made it. The box is heavily reinforced with duct tape and additional layers of glued-in cardboard. I weighed it down by putting scrap wood inside, and those elastic bands provide grip when it's on smooth surfaces. I scrounged around and threw in whatever I could had on hand for the top row of buttons, but eventually I'd like them all to be white. That's assuming I don't disassemble it first, or accidentally spill water on it and melt the whole case.
