I just figured something out, this stick and my Jam stick are both owned by MrPanda666. I'm surprised his house hasn't exploded from awesomeness yet.

Actually this was not all one piece I mitered and glued up the four sides. It is tapered on the sides so that it is wider in the front than in the back and there is a subtle slant for your wrists at the front. I had an ugly hunk of old twisted & crusty cherry sitting in my garage. I spent a few hours milling it into usable lumber. I wish I took a photo of the original hunk because the contrast was so extreme from the original gore to the finished beauty of the grain. :)

The clear base idea is absolute genius. Saves opening the stick up to see how it works! I still don't know how you get everything to fit together so perfectly.
